Fixed Price MVP Development — One Number, One Date, a Product You Can Charge For

Most founders who have paid for software by the hour tell the same story. The estimate was a range, the range became the floor, and the invoice kept arriving after the budget had gone. A fixed price MVP removes that risk from you and puts it where it belongs, on the person who wrote the estimate. I'm Md. Emamul Mursalin, a senior full-stack and AI developer, and I build MVPs at published, fixed prices for founders in the US, UK, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.

Fixed price only works when the scope is fixed too, so that is where the effort goes. Before any code is written you get a written scope that lists what is included and, just as importantly, what is not. Everything on the included list ships for the agreed number by the agreed date. Anything new that comes up becomes a priced change you can accept or park for version two. No surprises in either direction.

Three fixed prices, and exactly what each one buys

Starter is $999 and takes two to three weeks. It buys a scoping workshop, one core user workflow built end to end, up to six screens, user sign-in, a PostgreSQL database, deployment on your own domain, basic analytics and the source code. It deliberately excludes payments, AI features, an admin dashboard and a mobile app, because a Starter exists to prove one thing to users or investors.

Professional is $2,999 over four to six weeks, and it is the one most founders need: scoping with user-story mapping, up to fifteen screens, Stripe payments or subscriptions, one AI-powered feature, user onboarding and email flows, an admin dashboard, product analytics with a feedback widget and error tracking, an SEO-ready landing page, a CI/CD pipeline and two weeks of support after launch. It excludes mobile apps, multi-tenant team features and marketplace integrations.

Enterprise is $7,499 over eight to twelve weeks for teams selling to large customers: single sign-on, role-based access, audit logs and data export, up to three integrations such as Slack, Salesforce or HubSpot, a security review with questionnaire support, load testing, technical documentation and thirty days of pilot support. For context, US and UK studios typically start around $25,000 for a simple MVP.

How a fixed price stays fixed

Week one is a scoping workshop. We write down the single workflow a user must complete for the idea to be proven, map the user stories around it, and list what is out of scope. You sign off that document, and it becomes the contract. From that point the price and the date are my problem: if something on the list takes me longer than I estimated, you do not pay more.

Changes are handled in the open. If you want something that is not on the list, I tell you what it costs and how it moves the date, in writing, before doing any of it. You can approve it, swap it for something of similar size, or leave it for the next version. Payment follows progress rather than hours: 40% to start, 40% at the mid-point demo when you can use the core workflow yourself, and 20% at handoff.

  • A written scope with an explicit exclusions list, signed before any code
  • A live staging URL from week one and a demo every Friday
  • Changes priced in writing before they are built, never after
  • Milestone payments: 40% start, 40% mid-point demo, 20% handoff
  • Running costs such as hosting and API fees estimated up front
  • Code in your GitHub organisation and infrastructure in your accounts

When fixed price is the wrong choice

Fixed price suits a product you can describe. It does not suit research. If you do not yet know which of three ideas you are building, or the core of the product is an algorithm nobody has proven can work, a fixed quote is a guess wearing a suit. For that stage a one-week paid discovery, or a few hours of strategy work from $299, will save you more than it costs and ends with a scope that can be priced properly.

It is also the wrong model for an existing product with an open-ended backlog. There, a monthly retainer from $500 or hourly work at $60 to $90 is more honest, because the work is a stream, not a project.

Products I have taken from idea to launch

Founders is a reputation platform where startup founders earn feedback by giving it. Structured product reviews are graded from 0 to 100 by AI, accepted reviews earn credits, and launches run on public pledges. It is built on Next.js, NestJS and PostgreSQL, with automated tests in Vitest and Playwright, and it had to stay correct when two people claim the last slot at the same moment. MedScribe is a prescription platform for doctors that searches more than 25,000 medicines and prints on the practice's own letterhead; it began as one focused workflow, which is how every good MVP begins.

Contently AI is a social content SaaS that lets a marketing team generate, edit and schedule posts using OpenAI, Anthropic and Groq behind one interface. Each of these started the way yours would: one workflow, one fixed budget, and a list of things we agreed not to build yet.

For founders in the US, UK, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf

I work remotely from Bangladesh at UTC+6. That puts me three hours ahead of Riyadh and two ahead of Dubai, close enough that we share most of the working day, and with Saudi Arabia I share the Sunday to Thursday week as well. I am five to six hours ahead of London, which covers the UK afternoon, and ten to eleven ahead of New York, where I take calls in your morning or your evening. Each client gets one fixed weekly call, written updates, and a shared board where every decision is recorded.

The contract is between your company and me, with confidentiality and a full assignment of intellectual property on final payment, and I am used to US, UK and EU NDA and contractor templates. I invoice in USD. You can pay by international bank transfer from any country, through Wise or Payoneer where they are available to you, or by card through a Stripe invoice. If you are not sure which package fits, book a free 30-minute call and I will tell you which tier fits, what I would cut, and what it will cost to run once it is live.

Frequently asked questions

How much does fixed price MVP development cost?

With me, $999 for a Starter MVP with one core workflow, $2,999 for a launch-ready Professional MVP with Stripe payments, one AI feature and an admin dashboard, and $7,499 for an enterprise pilot with single sign-on and audit logs. The prices are published and the scope is written down before work starts. US and UK studios typically start around $25,000 for a simple MVP.

What happens if the scope changes during a fixed price project?

You get a written price and a revised date for the change before any of it is built. You can approve it, swap it for something of similar size that is already in scope, or park it for the next version. Work that is in the signed scope never costs more, even if it takes me longer than I estimated.

Is fixed price or hourly better for an MVP?

Fixed price, as long as you can describe the product. It caps your spend, forces the scope discussion to happen before money is spent rather than after, and puts the estimating risk on the developer. Hourly is better for research-stage ideas and for open-ended work on an existing product.

How long does it take to build an MVP?

Two to three weeks for a Starter and four to six weeks for a Professional MVP. There is a live staging URL by the end of week one and a demo every Friday, so you are never waiting until the end to find out what you are getting.

I am not technical. Can I still manage this project?

Yes. The scope is written in plain language as things a user can do, not as technical tasks. Every Friday you use the product yourself on a staging link, which is a better progress report than any status document. Technical choices are explained in terms of what they cost to run and what they let you do later.

Who owns the code when the MVP is finished?

You do. The repository is in your GitHub organisation from the first commit, hosting and the database are in your accounts, and the contract assigns all intellectual property to you on final payment. You receive documentation and a walkthrough call so another developer or an in-house hire can pick it up.

How do payments work for a client outside Bangladesh?

I invoice in USD by milestone: 40% to start, 40% at the mid-point demo and 20% at handoff. You can pay by international bank transfer from any country, through Wise or Payoneer where they are available to you, or by card through a Stripe invoice.
